Guide: Untethered Jailbreak Apple TV 2G on iOS 4.2.1 using Seas0npass [Mac]

Firecore Team has released another new Version of Seas0nPass to Untethered Jailbreak your Apple Tv 2G on iOS 4.2.1. The previous version of Seas0nPass allowed you to tehtered jailbreak your Apple Tv 2G on iOS 4.2.1/iOS 4.1.1. Now there’s an untethered jailbreak available for Apple Tv 2G, this means you can reboot your Apple Tv 2G without having to tether it to your computer to boot every time.

For those of you who don’t know, Seas0nPass is like PwnageTool for Mac, or Sn0wbreeze for Windows, which can can create custom jailbroken .IPSW files for your second-gen Apple TV.

This version of Seas0n is specifically made for Mac only, Firecore team is working on Windows Version which will be released soon.

Guide to Untethered Jailbreak your Apple Tv 2G on iOS 4.2.1 using Seas0npass:

First of all download the Following:
iOS 4.2.1 for Apple Tv 2G [Download Link]
Seas0nPass for Mac [Download Link]
Latest iTunes from Apple [Download link]

Step 1: Launch SeasonPass and click on “Create IPSW” option.

Step 2: SeasonPass will automatically download the required iOS 4.2.1 firmware for your ATV2.

Step 4: When prompted by Seasonpass, connect your Apple TV second generation using micro-USB cable.

Step 5: Hold down both the “Menu” and “Play/Pause” buttons for 7 seconds to put your device into DFU mode.
Step 6: Once in DFU mode, iTunes will open automatically to start the restore process.
You will have untethered jailbroken device after the restore process completes. Now remove micro-USB cable and connect the HDMI cable and start installing other apps.

    Hi,
    Followed the instructions and all looked to be working fine however the unit booted back into unpatched Apple OS.
    It looked like iTunes ran the script then rebooted the unit into factory default – does the unit need to be disconnected at a certain time during the cycle?
